This past summer I went to the North Carolina State University to do some research in the Chemistry Department at Alexander Deiter’s Lab. My project consisted of developing a methodology to rapidly synthesize non-natural amino acids by using microwave irradiation. It was a wonderful experience, were I was able to apply some of my Organic Chemistry background and also, learn a lot of new concepts and techniques. I was a participant of the AGEP-SRE Program which is sponsored by the NSF.
